Bub won’t stop crying. He’s getting a bit better but he’s in a lot of pain most of the time. We can hear everything gurgling around inside him. Poor little dude.
Today I got a lot of work done today as well as a great game with the guys. Played basketball for a few hours. It was a perfect night. Clear, but not too cold. No wind, no mozzies. Just great.
Got home to give bub a shower, huge pee went over 1m. Bodily functions are fascinating. Not meant to work tomorrow but there are a few things I didn’t get done today. Hopefully get into the house and get some stuff ready in there…
Carbatec brochure arrived today. Half the things i wanted are on sale. Funny how that happens.
That’s all for now.
Didn’t post all week. How shameful. Been rather busy though.
Friday night had band prac. Sat we played. Did an acoustic set since half the band was away. It was great. We had a ball and it went really well. Did some kids songs from when we were young. Did some different versions of other songs. Great times had by all. Worked Sun, very busy but a good day.
Bub hasn’t been sleeping well so I’ve been taking him from his night feed until midnight-1am when he needs another so that Missy can get some sleep. I get a lot done on the shop website during that time so it isn’t wasted. I like jobs that don’t require thinking. Rather tired now though.
Last night Missy took Dex and I slept on and off for about 12 hours, then I had naps this afternoon. That was great. Went to play games tonight at a Pathfinders fundraiser and was reminded why I don’t spin in circles. Since my head injury I get dizzy really really easily. I did that then a wheelbarrow race and then felt really sick. I puked for the first time in ages. Then I sat outside for a while and puked more.
We came home once i felt I could hop in a car and gave Dex a feed and a bath. He did an explosive poop in the bath and I didn’t want to refill it so I took him in the shower with me. He had a great time. It was lots of fun. He’s now sleeping well but I can’t sleep. Still a bit dizzy. It sucks. And that’s about all the excitement for my week.
Oh yeah, I watched Dex get snipped yesterday. Fascinating. No Dads were going in but I wasn’t going to miss it. There are some things you don’t get to see very often, and that’s one of them. Was really quick, he was the happiest he had been in days. Probably something to do with the sucrose syrup they gave him. Hasn’t seemed at all worried by it yet either. They used a plastibell and the doc said he was pretty sure dex was the biggest he’d see that day. I’m sure he was just being nice and says that to everyone who goes in. I just said that I used to call my brother pin dick and mum would remind me that he was bigger than me as a baby…
And after sharing too much I’m off to sit in front of the fire. Hopefully that will put me to sleep.
You gotta sing the title of this post like the classic Boomtown Rats song. It works better that way.
Got up this morning to finish fixing a guitar I did last night. It needed the nut replaced, wouldn’t glue on nicely and was just a nightmare. I got it done and had some breakfast and made myself a good nutritious lunch (two vegemite sandwiches) and went to the shop with Ron. I had a lot to do today and got a bit of it done. A rep was meant to come at 10 but was delayed to 12.30 (when another rep was meant to come). I got orders packed, orders input, stuff put away etc then the first rep arrived and took up a bit of time. He’s a good guy so it wasn’t bad. We had a good chat, he got a small order, then I got some more done before the other rep arrived. I’m glad he was running rather late also. Haven’t seen his stuff in ages so it was good to see the new things and there’s some good stuff in there. Once we have more spare cash I’ll get some of it. For now we just keep ordering what we sell.
It was a weird day. I just kept getting hit sideways and aside from a good first two hours i couldn’t get into anything. Every time I would start getting something done I’d get distracted. It kinda sucked, but that’s life. There were a few big things I just didn’t get time for. Hopefully Sunday… see what happens.
Dex had a good day, but decided this afternoon to have a hissy fit. He cut his face in several places with his nails on the drive home from the nurses where he was weighed, then was barely quiet for several hours. Poor Missy. Soon as I got home he was great (he was fine a little before i got home, it’s a coincidence) so I kept him amused while Missy got some stuff done. Tomorrow i’ll try make sure she gets a break. We gave him a bath in which he pooped straight away for the third consecutive night. Last night there were lots of cool fart bubbles.
And that was the day. Long since we were there for almost 10 hours, so 12 from when we leave to when we get home. And then sorting everything else out… luckily we’re all good now. Time for bed.
Today was meant to be a day off. I’ve done well and truly over the hours I’m meant to do for the week. In the last three weeks i’ve caught up the 3 before that when I didn’t do quite as much as I should have and more. I was meant to pop up to the shop for only a few minutes to meet with a rep who was flying up from Melbourne. That was the plan.
Last night Dex didn’t sleep too well. I was up til 12.30 looking after him. Then up again at 4.30 to burp and settle him again. Missy is tired so i wanted her to get some sleep. I had a stack of picks at home that I sorted into orders then we all went up to the shop and got there at 12. I sorted out a customer, met the the rep for an hour and got stuck. I had orders to pack. Quotes to prepare. Phones to answer. Workmen to organize. It all came at once. By the time we escaped, dropped the papers at the accountant and posted the orders it was 4.30. We’d been at the shop 4 1/2 hours. So much for a quick call in. Add to that the 2 hours driving and the day was gone. At least it wasn’t wasted.
Tonight I had a few guitars to restring, re-nut, set-up and fix. It’s what’s putting food on the table at the moment so it was great, but I’m tired. I did a good job on them still atleast. Hopefully Friday I won’t have too many things to do for the shop. I don’t need a break, but it would be nice!
Now here’s hoping that Dexter sleeps well… Missy will ahve to get up for him since I’m at the shop til late tomorrow, but still. She needs her sleep also.
Today was a day of bills, odds and ends, and other junk. Not a lot of excitement at all.
Dexter is being great. He’s got colic but being a trooper. He’ll cry for ages some times but once we bounce him around and get it through he’s a happy kid again. He loves to just lie and look up at the roof. He looks up and the wrinkles on the roof and the reflections of the light on the insulation. Right now he’s asleep on my chest.
Missy is doing so well. I’m so proud of her. She’s so relaxed with him. I’m really proud. This weekend we have to play at church. We’re down half a band so we’re doing an acoustic set for something different. We’ll take of straight after church because Dad and my little sisters are coming down. Dex is slowly meeting all the family. Can’t wait to introduce him to Amanda and Chris. In a few weeks i’ll be up there with them which will be great.
I keep looking at Dex and I can’t wait until he’s older and saying all those hilarious things that kids say. It’s going to be great. We’re already laughing about all the silliness we can get up to. It’s going to be great. It is great. Just enjoying each day as it comes.
